Dental emergencies
Choose the situation that looks like yours. Each page tells you what to do now, what not to do, when to come to the clinic and what it costs.

Pain and swelling
Knocks and broken teeth
After an extraction
Lost fillings and crowns
If the swelling makes it hard to breathe or swallow, if the bleeding will not stop, if you have a fever and the swelling spreads towards your eye or neck, or after a hard blow to the head, call 112.
How to choose
The emergencies are grouped by what you feel: pain and swelling, knocks and broken teeth, problems after an extraction, and lost fillings and crowns. Next to each one it says whether you should call now, call today or book a visit.
If you cannot find your situation or are not sure what to choose, call us. You tell us what happened and we tell you whether you should come in now or can wait until opening hours. We do not diagnose over the phone: the dentist tells you what is wrong with the tooth after seeing it.
What counts as a real emergency
Call now if you have swelling that is getting bigger, pain that does not ease with your usual painkiller, bleeding that has not stopped after 20 minutes of pressure, a tooth knocked out in an accident, or a fever together with toothache.
A lost filling with no pain, or a crown that has come off and that you have kept, can wait for an appointment. Until then, chew on the other side and keep the crown somewhere clean.
Call 112 or go to a hospital A&E (UPU) if swelling makes it hard to breathe or swallow, if the bleeding will not stop, if you have a high temperature and the swelling spreads towards your eye or neck, or after a hard blow to the head with fainting, vomiting or dizziness.
Nights and weekends
The phone is answered 24/7. The clinic is open Monday–Friday, 12:00–20:00 in winter time and 10:00–18:00 in summer time.
Outside opening hours, the on-call dentist comes to the clinic on request. Please call before you set off: we agree the time together and tell you the price on the phone, before you leave home. It may be higher than during opening hours.
Contact and map
Call about pain that cannot wait or to book a visit. We answer just as calmly either way.
